This lecture reviews foundational concepts of Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics (LEFM). Topics include crack tip fields, small scale yielding (SSY) and energy release rate (J integral).

Lecture 2 Tuesday, January 14th

The focus of this lecture is to introduce the concepts behind cohesive zone models. These models are widely used in the modeling of fracture. Time permitting, I will also give a brief review of large strain theory, focusing on incompressible hyper-elastic solids.
