My current research activities are mostly focused on friction and adhesion of hydrogel and rubber systems. Based on the development of time and space resolved contact imaging methods, we investigate the frictional behaviour of sliding interfaces at the mesoscale (i.e. at length scales ranging from the contact size down to the micrometer scale) both during steady-state friction and during transient frictional regimes.

News

We recently showed in Proc roy Soc A that memory effects involved during transient friction of soft matter systems can be accounted for by sliding inhomogeneities within the contat interface.

In a recent Soft Matter paper, we investigate the contribution of poroelastic flow to the transient frictional regime associated with the onset of sliding.
