Cavitation’s victory

During PC Focus, taking place last February, a photo contest took place. Each person being a part of the ESPCI could propose a picture with a link with the event’s theme : "Interactions".
Flora-Maud Le Menn got the 3rd prize of the jury and the public’s prize by presenting a picture of fracture by cavitation, named "The flowers of evil" : "Under high hydrostatic pressure, cavitation bubbles appear in confined elastomers. These bubbles grow and their fracture pattern interact with each other, forming these delicate petals."
